About Us
The Madison County Parks and Recreation Department provides leadership and implementation of the county-wide parks master plan. The county department is committed to preserving natural and cultural resources, enhancing existing assets, and strengthening connectivity between parks and people. By enhancing and expanding trails and open spaces, the department works to create a county-wide parks system that improves the quality of life for its residents and brings visitors to experience Madison County, Indiana.
Madison County Parks and Recreation Board Members
The Madison County Board of Commissioners created the Madison County Department of Parks and Recreation in November 2023. The department is overseen by the Parks and Recreation Board, comprised of five community members appointed by the County Commissioners, County Council, and County Surveyor. The Board meets on the first Thursday of each month at 12:00 PM at the Madison County Government Center.
